Designed in Leicester by David Shaw, hand built using only "point to point" wiring without the cheaper Printed Circuit Boards, using full sized audiophile components. Having power enough to drive most loudspeakers in "Pure Triode" class for those preferring a "warmer" presentation. Icon Audio amplifiers are made to be easily serviced, and our dedicated service centre in Leicester are here to help. The Stereo 40 6AS7 is packed with high end features. The 6AS7 valve is a high current triode alternative to the expensive 300B.

Readily available at very low prices. This model is distinguished by having a very sweet warm quality. Its medium power output make it particularly suited to more efficient vintage type loudspeakers, where its Pure Triode mainly Class A power will work well.

Being push-pull it has excellent dynamics and frequency response. You are welcome to audition. Working in conjunction with the smoothing capacitors the large choke gives super-smooth power regulation for a silent background.

Tertiary Transformers have an extra (third) winding which reduces distortion, using less global feedback. We believe our large handmade output transformers to be amongst the finest available. They are more expensive and difficult to make, but worth the effort.

Low Feedback Too much feedback can spoil the sound of an amplifier. We only use a small amount in the Stereo 40 MK IV. Most hi fi fans prefer the sound of pure triode Class A operation. The 6AS7 is genuine Triode valve. Useful to get exactly the right volume in your listening chair position.

Allows fine adjustment of the right sound level. All hand wired point to point, no printed circuit board.

Class A, all Triode front end. 2 x 6SN7 and 1 x 6SL7 first stage valve and phase splitter.
