Lovely original Icon Audio MC-34A integrated valve amplifier in very good overall condition. This was the first version of a Stereo 40, just revalved with all vintage UK Mullard / Brimar valves testing at NOS levels or better. So lots of years of trouble free listening ahead. Gone are the stock Chinese valves and a set of current matched Mullard EL-34's have replaced them in the power stage and Mullard / Brimar preamp valves as drivers / splitters. The results are superb and the valve set it should have come with.

The amp was well reviewed, but criticised for bass fuzziness which, I found was a function of the original valves not the amp. It's a sweet listen with an uncluttered sound path, plump defined bass, holographic mids and airy lights. Subsequent iterations of the stereo 40's added slam, but at the expense of authenticity almost trying too hard. I found this integrated very easy to listen to and made for vinyl or taking the edge of digital / streamed music.
