ICON AUDIO STEREO 40 2A3. Ex demo B grade for sale. Technically perfect with "as new" valve set including gold pin 2A3. Has a light dent in one transformer only noticeable under certain lighting conditions.

The RCA developed 2A3 is considered by some to be the ultimate Hi Fi valve. Very similar to the WE 300B it is 2.5V DHT (Directly Heated Triode). Although somewhat overshadowed by our other EL34/KT88 and 300B models this is one of the nicest sounding amplfiers we have made. Capable of driving average efficency speakers of 90dB or more to a very good volume level.

The 2A3 Directly Heated Triode has almost identical characteristics to the 300B but slightly lower filament ratings. This amplfier works especially well with larger vintage design speakers such as Klipsch and Tannoy and full range types. The combination of the 2A3s with classic 6SN7 and 6SL7 driver valves together with the 274B valve rectifier and smoothing choke gives a lovely smooth yet transparant listening experience with no "listening fatigue" which is common with many solid state designs. Remote control using ALPS pot. Three inputs plus record loop.

8 Ohm and 4 Ohm outputs. 274B or GZ34 valve rectifier.

A conventional three stage classic push-pull design using the excellent 6SL7 and 6SN7s as drivers with a 274B (or GZ34) rectifier. May be sent by courier or collected from Leicester.
